Hey there!

Sam Hanson is a Milwaukee-based illustrator and graphic designer. Her designs have been used for event posters, restaurant menus, staff shirts, merchandise, branding, packaging, signage, t-shirts, stickers and the like. Favored mediums include paper, pencil and ink. Other favorites are watercolor, gouache, acrylic, Procreate, Adobe Illustrator or InDesign. She has recently acquired a hot glue gun (!!)

Sam is originally from Woodstock, IL.. She attended Second City of Chicago’s sketch writing and improv training program. She has written and performed sketch and improv comedy across Chicago and Milwaukee since 2012. These creative skills translates into all of her work and lends itself to brainstorming new ideas.

In 2020, Sam opened her first e-commerce and pop up shop: Sam Hanson Doodle. She taught herself screen printing in her basement using eco-friendly water-based inks and soft Bella + Canvas shirts. As of 2022, Sam shifted her focus to illustration and graphic design. She sells her sweatshirts, t-shirts, tea towels, totes, pins and prints at markets around Milwaukee and the Midwest. She currently serves as the Graphics + Marketing Assistant for Outpost Co-op Grocery Store in Milwaukee since 2023.

When not drawing, Sam is a big hiker, thrifter and home cook. She’s a lover of tomatoes, Mark Ruffalo and a real good breeze.
